'06 r6 vs '06 gsxr 750

so my brother and i were arguing which is faster whether it be 1/4 mile or road track. I say the r6 is faster in all aspects and he believes because of the larger engine the gixxer is faster. I informed him he was wrong because the gixxer is way heavier. anyone with this knowledge please help  

Generally when it comes to Street/Sport bikes(road legal), the bigger the engine the faster the bike.  When it comes to track bikes, engine size means something very different.  And in the case of the R6 and the Gix 750, the Gix has it beat.  Weight isn't really that bike of a deal when you have so much more power to push it.  The 750 comes in with around 20 more horses that a 600.  I checked Motorcyelnews articles and the 06/stock R6 did the 1/4 in 11.1 and the 06/stock Gix 750 did the 1/4 in 10.7.  

It depends on the rider.  If we are comparing bike to bike, the gixxer has more midrange and top end power so it should beat the r6 because all of its power is at the top of its rev range.
