I've ammended my Top Speed Challenge to "Open Call".
Randall "Randakk" Washington has effectively declined the Challenge via no response after 2 weeks of multiple page-load views.
The offer is open to all as stated on the page.

Steve:
regarding: “Randall "Randakk" Washington has effectively declined...”
That’s not entirely correct. I have just returned from a long vacation and it’s the middle of the “busy” season here. Carb kits for early ‘Wings and other vintage Hondas are flying off the shelf here and I have been overwhelmed with work trying to keep up with customer demands. Solving the sourcing challenges created by the unfortunate recent events in Japan has also taken a lot of my attention as you might appreciate. Again, customer priorities take precedence here.
Anyway, I have decided to accept your Challenge! I just sent you an email asking for your preference on which Forum you would like to use to document the challenge.
I have access to film crew resources and a magazine editor has already expressed interest in covering this event. Should be great fun! I am looking forward to the competition.

Very Disappointing news to report. Here are the current facts:
1. Steve Scott issued a challenge that specifically targeted me. 2. I accepted that challenge yesterday (with multiple witnesses) 3. Steve Scott now declines to compete against me
Here is the surprising part. I was 100% clear to Steve Scott that I was serious and that all our communications about the challenge would be 100% public. Yet, he rejected my acceptance via a very profane ranting email. I won’t publish that here out of respect to the audience, but it will appear later today in a prominent place.
(I would normally never publish a private communication, but Steve opened that door with his outrageous comments).
I will say this:
Steve needs to take some of the “vapor” out his rash statements concerning me. If he challenged me, shouldn’t he be prepared for me to accept...as I did?
Over on another Forum, Steve is digging an even deeper hole. He is offering many excuses, but really - why should it matter that I agree to “limit” myself to a 9,000 rpm redline? (Everyone should feel free to weigh in over there, since there is no effective moderation.)
I would think that Steve would be pleased that I would risk a $40K machine on his silly challenge. What is he actually risking? Steve seems to be conveniently changing his own rules to avoid the very target he himself selected.
Respectfully, I ask everyone to consider this: the build details on my bike are well-documented here:
http://www.randakks.com/Randakk's%20Endurance%20Special.htm
Curiously, I can’t seem to find any build details or even pictures of Steve’s bike? My bike has been shown numerous times. I think it has been seen by thousands of people. Indeed, people have actually seen me ride it! There’s even a short video of me riding it here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DmCnS69QdDw’
(That video is a good demo of the redline I observe by the way.. That redline should be no surprise to Steve since he himself has viewed that video).
My bike's engineering details are well-documented....pretty much an “open book” as they say. With the specs I’ve posted about my bike, it would be very easy for anyone with a modest gear-head IQ to take those specs (e.g. stock engine internals and compression and only 8.0 psi max boost) to calculate max performance potential with great accuracy. I’m not really sure what else needs to be proved about my bike? Maybe someone can illuminate?
Steve could help his own credibility by doing the following:
1. Publish pictures of his bike 2. Publish detail engineering specs for his bike 3. Publish a brief video of his bike in motion showing the redline it can achieve. He’s claiming 12,000 rpms. Let’s see that! 4. Allow a public inspection of his bike. I would be happy to reciprocate.
I think this is a reasonable request, given that I’ve already done all these things myself.
My bike will be shown at the upcoming public events listed here:
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Randakks-Cycle-Shakk-for-Vintage-Honda-Motorcycle-Enthusiasts/10150135042030276?sk=events
I suggest that Steve show his bike at one of those events to allow everyone to see it. Even if it were only a mediocre performer, DOHC heads on a GL1000 would be a major accomplishment.
Meanwhile, Steve should please stop wasting my time.

Fair enough to me then Dave. A Great Forum none-the-less though.
Take Care, Steve Scott
