i hear people raving about this conversion, but does it really increase your power that much?? i understand for power wheelies but i am fine with clutch wheelies so wondering whether it is worth the money for a quicker acceleration and quarter mile time??

Yes it will help your bike, go one tooth smaller on the front sporket, and two teeth bigger on the rear, you will have to have a spedohealer to correct the speedometer. on my cbr1000rr its five teeth bigger on the rear and a tooth smaller on the front, that baby Rips, the lighter weight makes it do better too,

The bigger rear sprocket will def make it feel like it has more torque and it will wheelie easier but it will also lower your top speed and make your revs higher while going slower. Also, doing a 520 conversion causes more stress on your engine, sprockets, chain, and in effect you will have to do alot more maintenence alot more often. As far as the weight savings and how much lighter it'll make the make, maybe a pound or so. Get a full titanium exhaust and a gym membership and you'll save more weight and get more power than you would with a 520.

People rave about it?
Your bike has a 525 chain on it, so reducing to a 520 isn't a big deal. Changing sprockets will drastically change how your bike delivers its power though. Keep your final drive as it is, just go one tooth smaller on the front sprocket. It'll suddenly feel like you've "gained" 10 HP. No need to change to a 520 chain and sprox simply for the sake of doing so.

cheers guys yeh when i bought it i had them drop one tooth off the front sprocket just to make it get up and go a little better but iam unsure whether it has made that much difference and thats wen i heard of this 520 which also goes up 2 teeth in the rear. it reves enough as is at 7grand at 120km/h so i dont need it anymore revvy and i like my top speed as ive come off litre bikes. just wanna get this baby sorted a little better so i can smoke some stock litre bikes down the quarter mile

An R6 will NEVER smoke any literbike at the strip if they're both setup similarly.
A chain is a chain, and has nothing to do with your sprockets and number of teeth.

yeh thats y i mentioned a stock litre bike compared to a worked 600.anyways yeh i know the change is in the sprockets. the kits give you both chain and different toothed sprockets and lighter weight. like i said on mine i didnt get too caught up with it all and the front sprocket i changed down a tooth on mine is just a standard style sprocket cost me like $30 AUS no light weight business just gearing modification.

A bone stock liter bike will still crush any 600 with basic mods. It would take a 50-shot of nitrous to get a 600 in the same power range as a stock 1000.

interesting when you only need to gain 0.3 of a second down the quarter to equal an average litre bike time. i have come off an 06 zx12r and an 04 zx10r undoubtably faster and way more power in feeling. but just the numbers at the end of 400m arnt to far off. sure give the litre bikes 1000m or what ever and they would thrash a 600. also depends on how good the rider is down the quarter too.standard time for the zx10 down the strip is quicker first half of the quarter run but then the zx12 reels it in second half and beats it. but the smaller bike is quicker off the line.

"Only 3/10 of a second" is quite a lot.
On the big bikes it's the difference of 400 vs 550 HP and 7.50s to 7.10s.
To make up that 3/10 on a 600 wouldn't take that much (lowering, extensions, gearing, quickshifter), but if the literbike did the same then it'd be a wash and still be down 3/10, just with both quicker!
