What is the best beginner bike line up to start looking at for a 38 yr.old . And is a 2000 yamaha r6 a good bike to jump on without fear of killing myself or having to trade up to bigger bike for more adrenaline peaks.

If you're 38 years old then I would typically think that you should know your own limits enough by now to make an educated decision yourself. Do some research by googling any bikes you're interested in and look around on youtube for videos of whatever bike you're interested in and see for yourself.
All of the modern streetbikes have enough power to give you whatever thrills you're looking for if you take them to a track. If you think you need more adrenaline from a 6 series bike then drive on the left side of a two way street around a blind turn haha

Maybe an FZ6 would be better than an R6 for a year or two until you get some experience. It's a little more user friendly and certainly cheaper, but will still blow the doors off most cars on the road and have you giggling in your helmet.
