Riding in the rain for the first time :)

It was raining last night here in California. Not pouring down just drizzling, but it was my first time ever riding in the rain. The ride was interesting to say the least.
It was an hour ride on the freeway at 55-65 mph at around 10:30pm. I couldn't see out of my faceshield with the rain hitting it, so I had to wipe it off with my glove (that helped a little). Unfortunately, none of my gear kept me from getting soaked! My socks were wet. I had two layers of clothing underneath my jacket and they got wet too.
I probably would have enjoyed the ride more if I were wearing appropriate rain gear. But it wasn't all that bad, I made it home in one piece. Now I can say I've ridden in the rain.

it's all about being smooth, and successfully predicting traffic is critical. stay off any paint stripes and arrows, manhole covers, railroad tracks, etc and be gentle on the controls and you'll be fine. rain X on the visor works, or simply turn your head down and to the side and water should blow right off. avoid lifting your visor though, b/c then it will trickle down the inside and you're screwed.

Riding in the rain can be fun if you are in the mood - very atmospheric.
I actually really dislike riding on the freeway in the rain though, especially when I have to open my visor and get 70 mph hour water droplets like pins on my face
If I am ready for it and go out in the rain on purpose it can be fun - I was actually thinking about it as it was raining like all hell here in SF too last weekend.
