Im trying to bring a 1987 750 gsxr back to life. The back brake bled fine and now has new fluid. I can get air from the caliper up to the master cylinder, but the damn thing just wont take fluid back down . Do I need to replace these lines? ps the bike hasnt run in a year, but im working on that...

In all honesty with something that old id replace everything (master, lines, seals) when it comes to the brakes, get something a little less then +20yrs old.  Throw that stuff in the trash, i dont play with the reliability of my brakes, chain, and tires.  but I do buy my clothes at wallyworld , or scam free shirts outa people.

'87? Nice.

The '87 lines are probably shot. For under $100 you can get some good steel braided lines. As far as the Master, I'm pretty sure any Hayabusa master will swap over.

Those old oiler boilers are notorious for cooking lines with the hot motors.

If you need additional information visit the oil cooled section of gixxer.com

These guys know everything about the old schools. BTW. I have 3 of them.

Once you get your new lines on, beg, borrow or go to autozone and buy a hand-held mityvac vacuum pump with the bleeder attachment. Keeping your master cyl. full, attach the bleeder hose to the caliper bleeder screw and pump the mity-vac. It will pull the fluid from the master down to the caliper. Just be sure to keep the res. full so you dont suck the system full of air again. Hope this helps.
