So I have taken delivery of my 43 tooth Supersprox to fit my 2003 Yamaha R1.  Fit was perfect.  As I was removing my stock steel sprocket and placing it on my workbench, I picked up the Supersprox with my free hand while I still had the stock one in my other hand getting ready to make the return trip back to the wheel.  I noticed by feel that the net weight of both units were nearly identical.  The original sprocket was not worn, as I had previously installed an aluminum sprocket and it was so badly worn that I temporarily installed the stock one, so the stock sprocket was nearly new.  Upon noticing the weight similarity I took both sprockets to my digital scale, and was surprised to find that the Supersprox was 51 grams heavier than stock.  So now I'm at odds as to why I purchased a high performance part.  Why is a Supersprox a high performance part?  How is it supposed to perform better at a 1% heavier, and cost twice as much as stock (the OEM replacement from www.boats.net is only $4.32 plus shipping).  Since I live in CA, not only did I pay shipping, but tax as well, and to top it off, I thought the price was going to be $10.00 less than what I paid as I saw the ad in RoadracerX and thought there was a sale, only to find out that it was for the 520 conversion, not the 530 OEM replacement.  Ok, I'll give you the fact that it's a bling item, but that's not why I purchased it, I purchased it because it's touted as a high performance part.  Maybe I missed something, so please let me know what I missed, maybe there is some other great feature.

I'd contact them and let them know your findings.

I also bought the supersprox sprocket and chain replacement and noticed that only the front sprocket is actually lighter than stock because of the two rubber spacers or whatever that are on the stock front sprocket. I love the look of the gold sprocket and the gold chain but it makes it very apparent when the chain and sprocket are too greasy or dirty. I'm constantly wiping them both down. I'll post pics as soon as i figure out how.

The Supersprox sprockets are designed to replace the stock sprocket, with something that is lighter and performs better. In regard to lightness, every sprocket is different and in some cases, where there is a small hub on the bike and the teeth are more in quantity, like the GSXR, we are able to save weight. In comparison to the off road sprockets, we are able to save up to 50% of the steel sprocket weight. But we have found that street bikes are changing and the manufacturers are spending more of their energy on the reduction of weight on standard parts. So, our claim could be misleading in this respect. That was never our intention and we will put that right.

Our other claims are still valid. The sprocket will last 3 times longer than any aluminium sprocket. Our sprocket also has specially designed teeth, that will give extended life compared to a stock steel sprocket. If the bike is particularly powerful, the special toot design helps prevent the teeth from hooking as the sprocket starts to wear out. The sprocket is a technical part
And also looks very cool.

We believe that you should save 10% compared to stock sprockets and in the case that your sprocket does not offer that advantage, I would be prepared to offer you your money back for the sprocket. Or a replacement, when we re-engineer the 43t-2003-Yamaha-R1, to be 10% lighter. That replacement sprocket will take a few months to produce as there is considerable engineering and analysis that need to be carried out, but if you wanted to wait, we would arrange it. Let aneta@supersprox.com know and we will sort it out as you wish.

Lastly, we are going to change our advertising, to reflect this situation more accurately. As adverts are placed in advance, it may take a couple of months to show up, but the weight claim will be modified.

All the best

That's good *** I love when the parts manufacturers get in on the conversations. Advertisements make customers but good service builds loyalty and keeps them.
