Im only 18 and i am looking to buy a bike in the near future. i dont have any experience but im willing to learn. im not interested in a 250r or anything small like that knowing that i will become bored of it. 600cc's is all i want and i know i wont grow tired of it. i was thinking about a kawasaki ZZR 600 because it is cheaper on my insurance. if anyone has any tips please tell

everyone is going to give you their personal experience on what you should get but each bike has different ride height, power bands, rider position, style and what not.  Your best bet is to try and make friends in person not on the internet that own bikes, forums are good but wont get you what you need to make a good decision, it is just a bunch of opinions of people that you dont know anything about.  Forums are a start but gotta get your hands and ass on a few bikes to see what you like.  take the mc driving course first too  My first bike was a honda f2 and it was good to me, but getting something fuel injected is the ticket.

I WOULD TRY TO RIDE A GSXR 750 THATS WHAT I HAVE ITS NOT TOO LITTLE WHERE U WILL BE DISAPOINTED BUT NOT TOO MUCH BIKE FOR A BEGGINER EITHER THEN AS YOU GET MORE EXP. THEN U CAN START ADDING SPROCKETS POWER COMANDER ETC JUST MY OPINION

this might put it in perspective,

2005 Ferrari F430 Spider
0-60 4.3 seconds   =  http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=106859

2003 Ferrari Enzo 0-60 mph  =
3.2 seconds  =   http://www.0-60times.com/ferrari.asp

07 GSXR 750: 0-60
2.9 sec   =  http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=172280
but they say the stats where from a reputable magazine

07 GSXR 600: 0-60mph
3.0 sec   =  same source

these are just the first things i could find, youll see the bikes are faster then some of the most exotic cars on the road that are built for speed and performance,  so getting something like a 600 that will be more manageable kind of power you aren't going to cry yourself to sleep every night.  Even some of the SV's or smaller power bikes are nice too.  Dont let your ego get ahead of you or youll be making payments on a wrecked bike in your garage.

the kid is only 18 ya'll are crazy.i had a mustang at 18 start there kid.who knows u might just learn something.it also depends on size of person.i had a buddy who's 6'3" and weighs like 350. he bought a gsxr 600 for 1st bike.it looked like a bear riding a tricycle in the circus.i would go and sit on everything.try to feel bars and how comfortable u are.it all depend on what your comfort level is.i like kawi's,thats my personal decision.make sure u sit on as many as you can .u also need a buddy who has 1.this makes a huge difference.to see how the or a bike rides.hell, a 600 might be to much if dont know what ur doin

For a beginner, there is nothing wrong with getting a 250r. I've talked to people who have ridden the new ninja 250rr and they all say that it's a great bike. You can perfect your riding skills a lot quicker and become a better rider when you do decide to move up to a bigger bike. The SV650 is good as well. I've ridden that a few times and it was great. Think about insurance also. 18 year olds do not get good prices from insurance companies. Be smart, be safe!

well i did the same thing you did.. wanted a 600 so I didn't have to "upgrade" later.. well I did wreck mine 2 hours after buying it.. (not because of power, but because I didn't know how to turn).. but I def recommend the MSF course so you get used to small lightweight bike that you don't mind dropping.. cuz any damage to one is big $$$ to fix

i think the 600 is ok as long as you respect it.
