who knows the top speed??

...b/c people like to talk *** at the bar and at bike nights!  

....and if you listen to douches who think speed are key in riding then you are somewhat of a *** yourself  

it's good to be educated when you catch some of this talk going on around you.
Sport Rider just took all the 600s to a top speed strip, and they were all at or around 155, except the R6 that got 160. and this is at a top speed test facility where the bikes are run flat out for long distances with full leathers and mirrors folded, etc, not some short spurt on the highway!
the point is, don't worry about your top speed! it's more than you're probably ready for anyways.  

YOUR RITE DAVE, THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFULL OF PEOPLE OUT THERE THAT CAN PUSH A 600 TO ITS LIMITS. IVE BEEN RIDING FOR A LONG TIME AND ENJOY MY CBR 600RR ALOT MORE THEN ANY 1000CC BIKE OUT.  

I had pushed my 600rr to the limits and my speedo also said 163 with around 1000 to maybe 1300 rpms left before throwing into redline.  Got to my friends house, told him what was up, and we contested for weeks, he said there was no way that was on my speedo, I told him I knew what I had seen.  We never dug any deeper other than not believing each other, didnt think my speedo would display what wasnt happening.  Thanks for the info.  

This thread is hilarious, go buy a GPS and get TRUE speed.  Factory speedo's are as much as 15% off and if you are dropping a tooth on the front or adding to the rear you can be as much as 20%+ off what the speedo indicates.  So you guys that think you are going 170 are actually hitting around 135mph.  LOL....600's pulling 170....hahahaha...I haven't laughed so hard in a while.  

Don't think the bigger bikes don't have the same issue.  A BUSA will indicated 185mph before you even shift into 6th gear.  Since they are restricted to 186mph, actual speed is way off.  Even the early bikes (99/00) that were unrestricted indicted 210-215 on the speedo but only pulled low-190's.  You are talking serious mods to get some of these speeds and 200mph+ is a completely different story.  

Go to this site and select your bike.  I think you guys are going to be surprised... http://www.gearingcommander.com/  Now don't forget you can't just change the sprockets and run xxx speed.  You have to have the HP, aero, perfect conditions, etc. to pull that speed...  

When changing gearing you need a speedohealer or yellow box to CORRECT the speedometer or it's going to be even further off and adding miles to your bike when it's not...    

YEAH FOR REAL PEOPLE I SPENT 10.000 DOLLORS ON MY CBR 600RR MOTOR AT KWS MOTORSPORTS AND AM ONLY BREAKING INTO THE 173 MPH AREA. IF YOU THINK YOUR 600CC BIKE IS SO BAD BRING IT TO MAXTON AND PUT IT ON THE LINE. MY SPEEDO SAID I WAS RUNNING  206 MPH AND THE GPS AND TIME SLIP SAID 173. COME WATCH AND SEE OR KEEP YOU MOUTHS SHUT. I JUST MIGHT NO WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT I HAVE GOT TWO SUPER STREETBIKE JACKETS HANGING ON MY RACK AND 7 650CC RECORDS.ITS EASY TO GO FAST AT HOME BUT IT SEEMS LIKE THE MAXTON AREA HAS THAT AFFECT ON BIKES IT SLOWS THEM DOWN THE AIR MUST BE THICKER THERE OF SOMETHING.WWW.MCLEANSRACING.COM  

Dam! Guess my bike was doing like 218mph at maxton? Do I need more NOS, or will my 600 record stand for a while? Glad to see someone letting the uniformed public know the truth. When does the maxton issue come out? See you there next meet!

ITS OUT NOW. I THINK YOUR RECORD WILL STAND FOR A WHILE IF THIS IS JIM. WHAT SHOT DID YOU HAVE ON THAT THING ANYWAY,I JUST BLEW THE HEAD GASKET IN MY 600RR SO IM GOING THREW THE MOTOER RITE NOW. WE ARE TRYING SOME NEW STUFF OUT FOR 2009 SO EVERYBODY MIGHT GET TO SEE YHE LITTLE 600RR BLOW SOME SMOKE IN APRIL.  

Sorry to hear about the head gasget Jeff. I had 4 #16 jets,not sure what shot you'd call that? I hope to get to the dyno next week to see what the HP. figures are.I'am working on the YZF750 now. It's going to 20-24 jets, wet system. NOS till it blows! Jim.

GREAG NEAL IS RULEING THE ALTERED CLASS. LOOK UP THE EAST COAST TIMING ASSOCIATION WEB SITE AND MAXTON MILE . THERE YOU CAN KEEP UP WITH THE RECORDS. I AM IN THE WORKS OF BLUEPRINTING AND BUILDING A CBR 600RR WITH SOME SECRET PARTS PAT PENDING. THAT WILL BRAKE THE 200MPH MARK IN THE STANDING MILE AT MAXTON. IF IT WORKS OUT WE WILL BE READY WITH IT FOR 201O. FOR NOW WE ARE TWEAKING MY CBR 600RR FOR THE 2009 SEASON.
