I dont need to hear any "why dont you go with a liter bike" or "go with the kawi 250" stuff. It is one of these two. I just cant decide and i have a few months to make the decision. The CBR is obviously the tried, tested and true, but i'm not sure if the horsepower is worth it as im obviously not going killing any canyons at triple digit speeds. The 675's dyno's are pretty impressive for the get up and go that would put a smile from ear to ear, but the braking might be a little bit too touchy for my newbie ass. I'm looking to learn how to ride a bike, not how to kill myself with a motorcycle lol. Anyways, just thought the combined experience of the SSB community might be able to help me out.

The 675 is a hard-edged racebike. I rode one for about 2 months and loved every minute of it for its performance, but as far as comfort/practicality goes the CBR probably gets the nod. The 675 sounds, looks and rides like nothing else, while the CBR is pretty vanilla.

to be honest with you, I personally suggest the cbr600rr. It might be because I own the 600rr BUT I did my research and that just happened to be the one that I chose. Plus I liked the way that it felt when I sat on it. A lot of getting a new bike is, well is finding what is comfrtable for you. I hope that you make a wise desision. Remember to be safe and take your time learning and never push the limits.

My Friend 2 years ago or there abouts bought a brand new Daytona 675 charcole grey. His previous bike was a 2000 Honda CBR 600 F4 which is the bike i now own. The imediate differeces that he noticed right away is that the bike forces you to want to lay down and tuck in on the bike. The suspension was more aggressive and tighter feeling. Had a generous amount of torque. The exhuast sounded throaty and the bike seemed to growl at you, It had very nice and touchy throttle response. Over all he was extremly glad he bought the bike and he loves every minute rideing it. He also says that it feels like the bike has a higher center of gravity than the CBR but it dosent bother him. I think that the bike is solid and Triumph did a dam good job with this one. Now i know they have a bad track record with some of the other sport bikes they did in the past, especially with the engines. But it seems that they worked out all the bugs and kinks and put together a solid bike. now if you ask me if I would want a 675 for my first bike, i would have to say no. but that is just me.
