Can anybody recommend a good jacket to wear while riding around this summer? I'm looking for something that offers good protection but won't get too hot while riding around in the sun?

Joe Rocket does a cool all mesh one. Think of a high school practice football jersey with armor.

try: www.fieldsheer.com just tried one on. Simple black carbonite mesh with flourescent hilites, few graphics. High temp net mesh, I like that. Then heard from a guy that had dropped, slid, skimmed asphalt- and his skin was protected! He swore by it, dumped his scrathed up old one, immediately bought another. What I like is all protection pads can be upgraded and customized. Loved the fit, asking 2XL $129.00 at shop not related to product, now I just need XXlarge gloves...Q

Totally forgot I had an account on here....Here's a review I posted not too long ago on another forum I frequent. Definitely something to look into.
Hot muggy Florida; a nasty place to wear leather or even textile while riding. Being the born again newbie with my cute little 600 now, I had to get new gear. I have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket with armor which is GREAT. But, sometimes you want a little more protection but without heat exhaustion.
I found the Dianese Zentex jacket at Cycle Gear and I am in absolute love. The jacket is lightweight and comfortable. It has 5 different textiles in the jacket so there are a few different degrees of protection which apparently after a little reading, the abrasion resistence these different types have is great. The flow in a natural riding position tosses air up the sleeves in a 3 layered mesh pocket and that cool air circulates through your core. The armor in the shoulders is great and in the elbows extends from the elbow down towards the wrists covering a larger area of impact protection. PLUS...It has the Dianese name on it...So it has to be good right?!?!
Pros: Awesome fit. Great ventilation. Confident protection. Nice price at around $270.
Cons: Back protection is OPTIONAL . Size makes me feel like a fat bastard: Size Euro 58. No inner chest pocket for wallet or other crap.
AWESOME jacket and I can definitely see that this will be a great addition for this summer and the nasty air we get to cut through.
Kris
