i am looking at buying my first bike. I am looking at a kawasaki ninja 250. some people have told me that it is not worth it and doesn't have the power, even for a first bike. Just looking for some help and opinions. thanks

any 600, looks good very easy to handle and quickly grows on you. also looks great not like a 250 that is my first bike was a 03 r6 and it was pretty simple to get used too

Do you have much experience with bikes or very little? I think that would be the deciding factory for me. I too, am looking to purchase a new bike this year and I am deciding between the Honda Hawk or the Ninja 250. I'm 5'2 so my options are far more limited than others.
When I was taking the MSF course and I told the other students there that I was thinking of the Ninja 250 they all scoffed at me, they said I would lose interest within a month of riding the bike. Honestly, I will purchase whatever I feel the most comfortable with. Going to lots and sitting on the bikes will probably help a great deal.
Hope that helped!

i've read a lot of forum threads and comments concerning first time riders asking what kind of bike they should get. are 250 bikes good to start out with? are 600cc bikes good to start with? is it a good idea to get a liter bike as a first bike? they all have mixed opinions. all except with the idea of starting out on a liter bike it is almost universal to say that that is a stupid idea. anyway all i can really say is sit on a couple bikes of different sizes and take them on a ride around the block or do a few laps in an empty parking lot to see which you're more comfortable with. you might find a ninja 250 to be perfect for you or you might find you'll be comfortable on something bigger. but no matter what you should always be careful and show self control and caution when you first start out riding, since you can lose control and eat it on a ninja 250 as easily as if it was an r1.

I just bought my first bike. It's a 09 Phoenix cbr600rr. I have a little expierence on dirt bikes. all my close friends that have been riding street bikes for years said I wouldn't have a problem. I don't and love the bike.

Oh it's the custom paint job they did for 09. So Honda calls it the Phoenix

They just gave it the name cause of the paint scheme. The 2010 has a scheme called leyla.

Leyla? I used to date a girl in high school wih that name, she said it's arabic for beautiful night or something like that. I guess it makes sense being that the paint scheme looks like a moaning Marilyn Monroe. Poor poor Honda

My first bike was in 93' and it was a ninja 250. It did the job and while I was in highschool I thought it was pretty sweet however I am much bigger and older now and need something over 600cc.

i was stay away from the ninja's if i was you... i have heard nothing but bad things about them unless they are over 1000 cc. the one i rode felt weird and uncomfortable and just didn't have the power i thought it should have. but its up to you as to what flavor bike you get brother.
