I had my sled parked in the cold garage for the winter,I just took it to my warm shop and took the battery out and charged it.I then put it back in and started it.Normaly my bike temp starts at 30-40f and then slowly rises while idleing.Well not this time I started it and it was blank for about a min then jumped straight up to 95f and then started rising. My coolant overflow tank is good and its liquid not gel.Is it overheating or is my temp sensor screwed or is something else wrong.Help please.thanks.

if it were over heating you would see coolant boiling out. is the bike just sitting and idling or are you riding it? is the fan coming on when its supposed to?

its not overheating. coolant mixed with water wont boil till around 225 degrees f. if the fan comes on then the sensor is working because its telling the fan to come on at a certain temp. it could be that its stored in your warm shop which is already over 70 degrees. i dont think u have anything to worry about.

your fan shouldnt come on till around 200 - 220.

this guy is giving numbers in Celsius i believe.
for starters, toggle your switch button to read in F. then check your temp, fan will on at about 220, and all bikes will eventually overheat if they just sit there and idle.

K I figured that he was talkin c.My bike is set at f,During summer the fan would cut in around 110-115f.Also last summer i could let it sit for 5 or more mins and then the fan would cut in.Now it sits for maybe 1 min and its already at 110f and fan does not cut in.My shop is only heated to 15c,so after running for 1 min it shouldnt be at 110f.Something just doesnt seem right.

your bike has just gotten warmed up at 110-115f. the digital temp gauge on your bike is supposed to stay blank until 95f. ive had 3 cbr's(2-900rr's 1-954) they do the same thing. your fan should come on around 210-220f. i think before you may have had it on celsius. your bike is not overheating.

Not to be all up in the Kool-Aid... but I started having the same problem when I lowered my bike. It starts overheading as soon as I stop driving(at almost every light the fan kicks on till I start driving again) I think its cuz I lowered it and not as much air gets in...since the front tire and fender are in the way of the radiator. I see a ton of lowered bikes and I never hear about this happening... JUST ME?

How hard is it to add a fan to switch on when its hot? would it help?

lowering will prevent a little air from going in but all bikes heat up when sitting still. when ur moving air is passing through the radiator and when ur still its not. thats when the fan kicks on and pulls air through the radiator. i saw an advertisement in super sb for a fan switch i think its "xsb fan control" or something like that. go to www.xsboostperformance.com they will get you where you want to be.
