I was just talking about in general cause on wikipedia they're listed on their own individual pages and there isn't much info on them saying what makes them different.

I wouldn't really recommend wikipedia for anything. It's not a 100% credited or fact based source so I wouldn't quote them on anything.
Try this site for Suzuki history: http://www.suzukicycles.org/All-Suzuki/all_suzuki_models.html
You can select just about any model from the beginning and most of it is from a Suzuki source with factual history....

the gsx is a toned down version or let's say "base model" like when buying a car, whereas the GSX-R is like the SS version. It is just a difference in performance products that come stock on the bike.
