so, heres the deal, i dont take the bike on the track, mainly just on the backroads, i picked up a like new 05 zx10r for a deal i could not pass up. i rode it all last summer and i loved it, but i cant help but to think that i could utilize a 600 better. I have never ridden anything smaller than a 900, Is a 600rr or a smaller ninja going to feel like a joke after the 10R? I know that I dont need the power of the 10R. I have a guy coming out today to look at the bike and im wondering if im going to regret downsizing. Will a comparable 600 sportbike handle/ feel that much more nimble? thanks for any response, i know its alot of questions!

depends which ZX-6 it is!
all of the 636's are great, and with mild gearing you'll have a lot of fun.

obviously you're going to be at a HP and torque deficit, and you'll have to change gears a lot more frequently, etc.
basically, if you ride a 600 hard it'll feel more rewarding than just chugging along on a 1000 in 2nd gear all the time.

right on thanks guys, the only thing i dont like is the fact that i cant run the bike had unless im above 100, it would be nice to be able to have better gearing, will a 600 ninja/ honda handle/brake better in general over tha 10r?

brake better? depends how hard you pull the lever!
in general it'll feel/handle lighter, despite the seemingly negligible weight difference on paper.

You know what they say..."It's more fun to ride a slow motorcycle fast then to drive a fast motorcycle slow".
Not that the ZX-6 is slow at all and the 600's nowadays are getting ridiculously fast compared to where they were only 5-6 years ago. I would agree with the above poster that it would probably be more rewarding to ride the 600 if you're just riding to work or on the backroads. The 1000's can be more of a hassle for everyday riding especially if you don't go to the track or take it on the interstates for some speed bursts....or use it as a weekend bike.

Newbie in the house . . . me. If you're a tiny guy, shoe size less than 8, then no problemo. If you're a big dude then you'll lose weight fast shifting gears and hanging this way and that way trying to keep up with your buds. I need 1000cc or more to haul my big butt around.
