Well Ive never rode a bike but i been on a bike b4, and ever since then i wanted my own bike. Now i have been researching bike for about 4 months. kawis, gixxer, honda and yamaha. now i have talk to a honda dealer and he told me that for a big guy like me and my frame 6'3" 250lbs that i should sit on the interceptor 800 cc. b/c that is a more comfortable ride for my size. now with yamaha the guy suggested and r1 even tho. it has a lot of HP in that small light chassis i was totally against that b/c i felt to tight on the bike. now the kawi dealer suggested a zx14 b/c of my size and i sat on the zx10 first and was a lttle cramped, then sat on the zx14 and it felt better than the interceptor so i thought about that one. but the 1400cc kinda scares me. so i go online read a lot more then decided go check out the gixxers. i told the guy i wanted to buy a 750 and he started to laugh saying ill want a bigger bike in a month. now the gixxers have a comfortable seat plus with my long arms they kinda fit well 2gether from seat to handlebars. then the dealer wanted me to sit on the busa and it was even better and heavier. so i went on the net and looked it up. the mode switch on it a b and c mode would help me getter better on the bike and the dealer explained this to me. in the gxs-r 1000 its about 180 hp in a small bike. in the hayabusa is about 180 hp in a big bike weighing at least 100 more pounds than the 1000s. he also said that for me being new to riding and first bike i should get something that i wont outgrow in a few months and the 1000s r to nasty of a bike for me. i told him that a busa is about 1340cc but he said the bike will go only as fast as u twist and my best bet would be a 08 busa or 08 zx14. what do u think? oh 4got to mention i take my riding course the 3rd weekend in oct 08

Personally, your smart on the part about not wanting to buy a high end CC bike 'cause of it's power. But your physical attirbutes is what comes into play when you buy your bikes. Many people (like myself) will tell you differnet things and opinions. But it all comes down to one factor. Will you buy a bike and stay with it? I mean, if buy a 'busa, that'll be perfect for you but the cc is a lot for sum one new. I would go for a gixxer 'cause over time, i have learned to love it's comfort and nimbleness while the 'busa is a little big and heavy in my opinon. hope this helps! Congrats for the riding course by the way!

do yourself a favor and dont listen to a sales guy trying to make a sale . your weight isnt a problem on any of the smaller cc bikes youve looked at (600-750) . Now iam 5'8" 235 and ride a gsxr600 . the gsxr has the lowest seat height out of the 4 main players in the game followed by Honda, then Yamaha and Kawi being the highest . I choose a GSXR cause it was the most comfortable for me and I could actually flat foot the ground witch I could not do on the Yamaha or Kawi . some one of your hight might be a little more comfortable on the Yamaha or kawi . A 600cc is more then sufficient for a beginner and some would say to much but as long as you exercise self control and stay geard up you will have all you wanted . save the bigger cc bike for when you have more experience on 2 wheels!
I actually ride with a couple buddies that I would put around 300lbs and around 6 foot and both ride a yamaha r6 .

Please by all means do not buy a *** busa because speed with comfort and style is what it's all about. I'm 6'5" 267lbs. and I'm pround to say that I own a 07 ZX14. if you want the perfect partner for a night on the town, then you want the 14. being a big guy myself the 14 packs a hell of alot of punch and everyone that I come across when riding it fall in love with it. they all know what the ZX14 is all about.but,,if you want to look like your riding a lunchbox then please help yourself to the 10 year old unwilling to change busa. By the way there is talk thru the grapevine that Kawasaki will introduce in 2010 a supercharged ZX14. I'm sure all the happy go lucky busa owners will be choking on that one. P.S. that's gear driven supercharger not belt driven as usual.

Okay,FWIW, Ive been riding over 34 years. I would tell you to get an SV650 or a Katana 750 for your 1st street bike. The Busa AND the ZX-14 are TOO much everything for a new rider.(btw...have you priced insurance for a Busa yet???) And go buy yourself a couple year old used one to start with. Ride it a season or two, then decide if your ready to go up to the level of a busa, or liter class superbike. And don't listen to your idiot salesman, he does not care if you end up dead in a month... he still gets his commision... OH, and to the previous poster...I will never be jealous of a ZX-14, supercharged or not... thats laughable dude...

Well put it this way,I've been rideing for along time,I own a busa my self,If this is you're first bike you sould look at a 600cc put it this way Ask the question: Do I like still being able to walk? No matter how big you are it's not what u look like,It's how you ride a bike,Maybe you sould look at cruisers for you're first bike or some thing along those lines,I know most people that ride busa's right them up and say how good they are,It's the same with any bike,And for the sales men,You sould tell them "Shut the *** up,I'm buying the bike not you,and you tell them what u want and when u want it" I dont like seeing people come off there bikes. I hope you can make the right disision,With out god makeing it for you. And the guy's above are absoultly right in the way they think,Every one has diffrent oppinions on bikes,Kinda the same way as politics,Because it s between life or death

Honestly, I know a older guy who's first bike was a new busa. To this day he's never been in an accident or dropp'd it. Whatever feels best for you go ahead. But for a first bike. Dont go waste thousands of dollars. Go buy a older bike, learn your riding and then in 6 months or a year, go spoil yourself. No sense in spending 14k out the door and dropping it being a moron or crashing.

This is like a can of worms, isn´t it? I agree with the people that warn against the "good advise" of the saleman. Yes, they are indeed there to make the sale. It could be that you got one of the "better" ones, trying to give some good advise, but at the end of the day, they want the sale, heh?
So I also agree with the guys who are advising getting an older bike, as they lose a lot the first couple of years and then sort of level off. Many bikes are ridden by people only on good weather weekends and to the café and then home. My last bike had 820 miles on it after 3 years. The guy loved the bike, but it was too big for him. He didn´t really want to admit that he bought the wrong bike and he loved the look. I happened along when he was in an honest mood regarding his fit on the bike and got a great deal... There are lots of those out there. Try not to be one yourself.
That said, get a good bike, that you think you will like. As my name implies, I would steer you over to the Triumph shop and trial sit a couple of them. Then look and see if you can find one of those models a couple years old used. The Triumphs are top notch and great all rounders. You don´t end up looking at 40 bikes "just like yours" at meets..which is kind of cool.
Anyway, make sure you have a good course, listen up and realise that cars 1. do not see you and 2, if they could see you, they want to run you over. You may find that you have to bend a law a bit in the interest of survival. Do so. You can always talk to a judge about it...but that is better than meeting the Judge, heh?
Learn your bike in and out, what-ever you choose and check the brake lights and feel, look over the chain, check for stones, glass etc and keep the tires inflated to the right amount. Learn AND practise good counter-steering right from the beginning and you will avoid being one of these guys that ride straight off in a curve! It is the greatest past-time in the world, as far as I´m concerned. HAVE FUN! I don´t know where you live, but buy the right gear and hope you never have to test the crash-worthiness of it. HAVE FUN!

Imma b real with you. Ask yourself this question. Are u buying a busa for the speed, for the potential to trick it out as a show bike, or just because of your size, or why even a busa at all? If because of your size then then ask yourself why you're buyin a sportbike at all, as in do u really plan to ride hard or do u just wanna be seen and/or known as a sportbike rider/owner? Look at it like this, all the motoGP and most of the superbike riders all weigh in around the 145-180 weight class, yet look at how aggressive they ride. Are u interested in that style or leisure of cruisin around town learnin the true meaning of freedom just by ridin a bike? Plus are u planning on takin a road trip on the seat of a bike? Maybe "sport"bikes just aren't for you...yet. Look into cruisers too man, they're not just for old people and devoted Harley fans. literbikes, as they shouldn't be, aren't for everyone. I enjoy being one of the few (in ratio to the peeps w/o a bike at all) to own a 08R6, my 2nd bike, and I feel proud its one of the few things Im good at. Take it how u wanna.

start out cheap and easy. I had a Katana 600 as my first bike. I liked it and then it got to where I was bored with it. Didnt like the looks of it so much about 4-5 months after I had it. I sold it to a buddy and went out and financed a 08 ZX6R. I got a sweet deal 2bros pipe thrown in with it for 9300. I love it its pretty fast, I am learning to launch it better at the track and having plenty of fun. Kinda glad I didnt get the 14 right of the chain. Green on Green kawi is great! good luck and get something older and cheaper to get through the awkward moments. watch out for hot pavement and your kickstand!

It should be whatever feels best for you. You want to be comfortable, but you shouldnt be scared of your bike. I know quite a few ppl that started with a 'busa, you should do it if thats what feels right. And by your attributes, it might be the smartest move. Oh and btw very nice choice with suzuki anyway haha!
