Well it turns out that i have to do a paper for my class which is supposed to be real boring but since i want thins to be fun for me, im researching bikes and which ones are the safest street bikes made for a female rider. As i have posted in some threads i have gotten advice from many people saying many things. Starting off with Ninja 250, i have now been looking at the 2002 Honda CB 400 are there other bikes i should be looking at?? Are there better buys out there other than the ones at the dealers??? Does it pay to look on craigslist or ebay for a specific bike??

I personally don't think there's a "safe" motorcycle out there. I mean motorcycles don't come with airbags or crumple zones. When you fall, you fall. Now what's an easier bike for a female to ride depends solely on the female. If she can handle a 250, 600, 1000, whatever, and that's it, then it can be easier for her. You really won't know what bike is good until you try it out.

There are many bikes out there with smaller displacement engines such as the GS400, Hyosung and UM 125's and 250's, used FZR400's, and the list goes on and on. A smaller engine doesn't make a bike safer, it can actually be more dangerous for interstate riding. As far as safety features, the Gold Wings now have ABS and airbags, but that doesn't make it a safer bike. Not all women are little or weak, so the suggestion that the Ninja 250 is the safest bike for a female is pretty sexist. I know a woman that used to ride a turbo charged Ninja 636 just fine, and another with a Harley Street Glide. The safest bike is the one you feel the most comfortable on.
If aftermarket equipment counts, I'd say the most comfortable bike with a good set of brakes, add in a good helmet and leathers and you're about as safe as you can get on a bike.
