Katana Hesitation

I have a 2001 Katana 600. It has a drop-in K&N and Vance and Hines Exhaust. I ran fine up until 2 days ago and all of a sudden it has a hesitation above 9,000 rpms. Down low it still feels good, and pulls good until 9K and then it just acts like it is out of fuel. What could this be? Bike has 14,000 miles on it. Doesn't smoke, use oil or anything. Just hesitates up in the rpm range. Any help on the problem is appreciated!!!

Sounds like it could be a clogged catalytic converter. Perhaps you can remove the O2 sensor upstream of the cat and run it to see if you have full power. Word of caution, extremely hot gases come out so make sure it would be safe to remove and ride in this condition. Hope it helps
