Hi all,

Been cruising around the forum for a bit but just now joined... saw a few posts I wanted to comment on, and I had a question.

I'm not going to ask "What's the best ______?" because a question like that can't be correctly answered as it's almost impossible to prove, however I would like to know in your opinion, what is a good stunt bike to learn on?

I haven't been riding long, and am still on my first bike, an 06 SV650S. I recently got my bike cruising on its back wheel, and well, I'm addicted. I want to try some more stunting, but I don't want the thrash my nice bike, and I read it's not a good bike for stunting for a couple reasons.

So if you have experience, what do you think would be a good bike for getting the hang of some stunting? Various Hondas and GSXRs seem to be popular... and I plan on investing in a crash cage and like protective additions on whatever bike I choose.... what bike has taken what you've thrown at it, etc? In a year or two if I feel skilled enough I'll get something nicer since I won't be so worried about thrashin' it. I'd like to definitely spend less than $5k, quite a bit less if possible, as I'm almost planning on this bike taking a few brusings.

Thanks all,
-Justin

I ride an 01 f4i and while I have no problem getting it up on one, I prefer to run the canyons and dodge cagers in town!!  But I seem to run into a lot of stunters who can't believe that I don't have a crash cage and gnarly rear sprocket on my bike!! The consensus around here is that the 01-03 or 04 has just something about the chassis design that provides an excellent balance point and with little more than a rear sprocket and hand brake you can be stunting in no time!!  but probably the biggest bonus is that you can buy a used one for around 3500 to 4000!! But hell this is just my opinion, although I've noticed on T.V. and in SSB as well that A LOT of guys are going to the Ninja 636 as well.

I am an addicted stunt rider, I can give you some advice here.  The CBR 600 F4i and RR have strong motor mounts and frames, as well as the Ninja 636.  That's what makes these bikes popular for stunting.

Personnally I like to go for cheap bikes I don't mind thrashing.  I like to keep a nice bike for cruising and a stunter.  Right now my stunter is a '94 FZR600 with a reinforced subframe and passenger rearsets, 12 'o clock bar, 15-60 gearing, an '01 R6 tank that's been flattened to sit on, and a longer oil line so the motor still gets oil during long wheelies.  I also have a short exhaust can on it to prevent scraping it as much.  A crash cage is on the way.  All together I have about $2k invested in it.

The best stunt bikes come from salvage yards because they are cheap, and they have already been dropped so you won't care as much about putting on a little more cosmetic damage.
