I'm want to start a Bike Night in town (Newport News, Va). We don't have events here like that. We have clubs that have events but no Bike Night. Can anyone provide me information and advice about doing this?

First off I wish the Mod would delete this poster above...I never see anything valid posted by this "person"

Second off, its been a while so I dont know if you got it set up or not.

If you want to do it the RIGHT way find a place with a large parking area so that several bikes and customers of the place can park.
Second try to get permission from the place...this way you wont be kicked out by the place or the cops run you off...
Third, dont even think about fireworks or stunts unless you have permission from the facility, local PD, Local FD and have any permits or insurance in place.

Yeah you can have a bikenight just by picking a place and throwing up flyers.
Heck you can probably get by a few times with stunts and fireworks and maybe even drinking...
until the place you have it or the local PD get involved...Thats why I suggest you do it the right way.

Try to find a place where you see motorcycles frequent anyways. Talk to the owner and ask them if they would like to sponsor a bike night once a week/biweek/month. They might do specials as well. And if you bring them in more buisiness outside of bike nights its a benefit to them. Remember you have to sell the idea to the owner because otherwise you are just taking up alot of space.

Back on the subject of permits and insurance.
Before throwing a raffle, silent auction, fireworks, stunt show or other event, check with your local laws and see what permits and insurance you may be required to have...these can be VERY hefty fines if you do it & get caught.

Ive organized these types of events before in my area. It takes a lot of work and sometimes a lot of advertizing as well.

good luck!
