How do I get my bike as low as possible??

Whats up guyz? I am a short person about 5'6 but I have really short legs. I sat on a '07 Yamaha R6 the other day and I was no where near having my feet on the ground. I found these adjustable lowering links for the R6 at McCoy Motorsports and they lower it up to 4 inches but, I don't think that would be enough for me. The only type of bike I want is a street bike and I don't want nothing else. I need the bike to be lowered to the maximum. How do I need to go about getting a bike lowered to the max and what do I need to do? Before I found out what brand of bike I want I need to find out what first needs to be done and also see what type of lowering options I have for the bike. Thanx guyz.

well...just push it over!
Haha jk jk

Naw, here are a few things you can do:
Lowering Links (LEGIT ONES! ON FRONT AND BACK)
Shave the seat
Raise the bars so you sit more upright.

Ok now #1 lowering a bike messes with the handling of a bike.
#2 Lowering a bike IS DANGEROUS if you get faulty/crappy makeshift lowering links. My friend got hers lowered with some links she bought on ebay and in the middle of a ride they broke in half. She was able to keep the bike upright and got it to slow down and stop THANKFULLY but the bike's back end slammed down onto the back tire and began to burn through the plastics...
#3 IF you get it lowered, get both front and back lowered the same amount. Why?
If you only lower the back - it will be harder to turn
If you only lower the front - the bike will turn in easier, running the risk of turning in too easily and being unstable.
If you get really good at cornering, you run the risk of dragging your pegs on the ground when you turn with a lowered bike.

There are several other SPORTbikes out there with a shorter seat height. I can find the list of sportbike seat heights for you if you would like.

I'm bout the same height as you but I guess I have longer legs LOL

shaving the seat is the safest way to "lower" a bike (you're actually just lowering yourself), but obviously you'll sacrifice a bit of comfort. i do it to all my bikes b/c i like to sit "in" them instead of on them.

lowering links are OK, but should be matched by dropping the forks in front (there aren't any lowering links for the front—you simply drop the forks through the triples).

you're going to compromise handling and ground clearance, but if you're just cruising you'll be fine.

check out roaringtoyz.com for some lowering links—i just got mine from them for a Busa we're building for a top speed bike and they're nice (and priced well!).

sorry didn't see the part about 4 inches...that'd put your plastics on the ground.
get some adjustable links and start with the smallest option. it will only look like a half inch or so, but that translates differently to your actual feel.

the ones the mccoys are talking about are so you can "slam" the rear end for custom bikes. i have them on my 954 and can lower the tail onto the rear tire, but i only do that for shows...actually i use the links to raise the rear ride height, but that's another thread!

Appreciate you guyz helping me. Like of the guyz said up top I have also been looking at the lowering links from roaring toyz. I will occasionally cruise around but I would mostly like it to be a show bike. I think the GSX-R600 out of all the bikes I am looking at has the one of the lowest seat heights. I didn't think of that it's a really good idea. How is shaving the seat down done?

to shave the seat you basically take it off, then pull the staples out, take the cover off.
then get an electric carving knife. start shaving!
