Usually I'd say go with a 250cc but since you are tall and heavy (actually you aren't heavy for your size but for a 250cc you would be), I'd look for something in the 600 range. If you have never ridden before I'd stay away from the GSXR's, R6/R1 by Yamaha, the rr Ninja's, CBR's or anything in the RR category. Suzuki makes a SV650 and a GSXF650 (replacement for the Katana). If you are looking for used bikes then look into an SV650 or a Katana if you are looking at Suzuki. Kawasaki Ninja 650R or the Ninja 500 or a zzr600. There are many bikes talk to some people they will all have their own recommendations.

ok thanks. yea i was looking at the katana and sv650 and they seemed like good bikes. i dont like the naked look of the sv650 but then i saw that you can by the plastic parts for it. i thought about the hyosung but then i saw a lot of bad reviews on it so i changed my mind.

The Katana is considered a "bullet" proof street bike. Great but it is carburated so unlike a newer SV that is fuel injected, depending what you want to do. The styles of katana are pre98 and 98-2006. The new GSXF, which they say is a full faring Bandit 650 is supposed to be a pretty good bike. But they are new for 2008. Good luck on anything you purchase and have fun!!

Just riding around town and cruising will keep most bikes equal. I would recommend doing a google search on the bike ur interested in buying.
