Well Tiffany if you have never ridden before I suggest you enroll in the MSF beginners course. It will introduce you to riding and is very informative. The instructors are great and you will learn something. Also if you don't like riding you will find out after you take this course. Many people get into this sport but they buy all the gear and a bike and once they learn that it's not that easy they end up selling the bike and getting rid of the gear, most of the time taking a big loss on everything. If you take the course and decide you don't like it then you're only out a couple of hundred dollars. Instead if you do like it then once you complete your course you will get a certificate that will allow you to get your license. A good beginner sport bike is usually a 250cc or possibly a 500cc bike. Kawasaki has the Ninja 250 which is an excellent beginning bike and Suzuki has a GSF500 with also make a great beginning bike. The 250 is lighter and will be great if you end up dumping the bike, and believe me as a beginner you end up dumping it sometimes, even standing still and not putting the kickstand down completely. The best advice I can give you is to make sure you wear your gear. Helmet, Jacket, Boots, Gloves and some type of kevlar/aramid/re-enforced pants.

hey tiffany. Do the MSF. 250, gs500f, or any 600 is a good bike to start out with. Most of the girls were I live started out on 600s and they loved'em. but that has alot of power for new riders. my little brother started off with a GS500F my uncle gave him and he likes it alot. it has enough power for him right now. good luck and welcome to the wonderful world of street bikes. *going out to hug my bike right now*

To all the new riders if you are really interested some of the local clubs help beginners out as well. Check out Blacksheepriders.com its a group of people that get around and get involved in all sorts of riding. A great bike family in the making.

Hi tiff like someone said earlier .. make sure u wear your gear..... lets just say i had to learn the hard way. U never plan on going down. But the harsh reality is ... is that its going to happen . Part of being a rider and learning and getting better. Good luck and continue to go after your passion!!!!

Im also a beginner like Tiff, but I am going to start school soon for my own street bike shop, building bikes and doing the graphics. but I also dont have a bike yet but I am looking and about to get my license to get a bike. I know I need to wear my gear, and I've already been told about the safty tips. but is there anything else I really need to know??

I fully recommend taking the MSF class...you'll learn alot!! Disregard all the crap about getting a 250 and a GS500. After i took the MSF class in Sept. i went out and bought a brand new 2007 750 and i love it. Anything less would be a waste of money cause the more you ride, the better you'll get. I've had cars pull out in front of me on numerous occasions and i've never been down yet...had a few close calls tho but u should b just fine with a 600. My suggestion....GSXR 600 all the way...nothing beats a Suzuki. ALWAYS,ALWAYS,ALWAYS wear your gear! Many people complain about how hot the gear is but you dress for the fall! Don't ever think you're not going down or that it can't happen to you.
