Hey what's up! I ride a 06 gsxr-600 and just getting the wheelie part down. But when i get the bike up there, i cant seem to find the balance point. My bike red lines at 16.500 rpm and seems to find the red line everytime i keep the wheelie goin.
When it hits the red line my bike seems to cut out to prevent engine damage.(which makes sense)
Im guessing i either have to shift to second mid-wheelie or just find the balance point in first. Id like to be able to shift to second but still a little sketchy on doin it! Any advice.

Yeah if you try to ride it out in first you'll always hitting the limiter, which will drop you like a rock.
You should try clutching it up in 2nd, you should be clutching it up anyways. With some more practice you will (probably) find your bp, and stop the bike at BP with the rear brake.

I have a 06' Honda CBR600 F4i and what exactly do you mean when you say " stop the bike at BP with the BP ?" I plan on getting major into it with stunting and will be looking for different sprockets shortly.
Live for the minute because you might not have the next one. ~D~

by BP I mean balance point, which is the point where you can ride out a wheelie just by holding the throttle at a certain position. Hard to explain, but its what you need to get to

Oh okay okay..And what exactly does pressing the back brake do when you're at balance point ? I've never tried yet.

Pressing the back brake slows the back tire... which causes the bike to fall

IF YOU PLAN ON STREET RIDEING ALSO THEN GET ON THE COMPUTER AND ORDER A CONVERSION 520 KIT FOR YOUR BIKE (CHAIN AND SPROKET SET) FROM SUM OF ALL PARTS. DOWN ONE TOOTH ON THE FRONT AND UP TWO ON THE BACK, THEN GET ON EBAY AND ORDER THE HOW TO WHEELY DVD PART ONE, SECRET PRACTICE RIDEING WHEELIES UP HILL IN FIRST GEAR UNTIL YOU FIND YOUR BP. SPEND THE MONEY ON YHE DVD. ITS CHEESY BUT WELL WORTH IT,

Yeah, you need to power shift it into second if you havent found the balance pointe yet. Just practice power shifting when your in between 8 and 11 RMP My red line is 13 or 14 Im on an 02' Gixxer. Might differ a little, Just when you practice the power shifting start at low wheelie and feel the jerk in it. And power shifting is just hitting the shifter with no clutch for those who dont know.

NO DONT POWER SHIFT IT. UNLESS YOU WANT TO SPEND 800.00 TO 1000.00 ON A NEW TRANS, I USE TO DO THIS AT THE DRAGS AND IT COST ME 2ND GEAR, A SHIFT FORK AND A NEW DRUM. NO GOOD, USE THE CLUCTH IF DONE RIGHT IT IS AS SMOOTH AS SILK.

Jeff, Well im glad you hesitate until your ready.
How i learned: lol
I started in that bp just a lil before i was hitting rev limiter then shifted (normally) rolled off throttle a lil and usually it would swowly decend down. at first i let it drop a lil hard at some points but slowely shifted i lil faster and ONCE IN 2nd rolled on the gas a lil harder. i was frustrated. did all of this in 1 day. you are on the rite track. start USING clutch and shifting to secong while rolling off the gas ..once decending give it more and more till you catch your rythem...your on a good track...
Good luck and be safe

Wow, that's crazy. What year is it? Are you slipping the clutch or just quick popping it? Practice at different rpm's and slowly work ur way up higher until you get the bike up where you want it.
Keep the rear brake covered!
