JUST WANTED TO LET YOU NO. I RAN AT MAXTON ON A CBR 600RR. 16 FRONT 41 BACK FOR THE GEARING AND MY TOP SPEED ON THE SPEEDO WAS 181 MPH. BUT THE TRUE SPEED WAS 154 MPH AND SOME CHANGE. TAKE YOUR TOP SPEED AND TAKE OFF 15% OF IT AND THATS WHAT YOUR SPPED IS. SORRY TO BUST YOUR BUBBLES ON YOUR 600S BUT THE TRUTH HURTS. THE RECORD ON THE 600 IS HELD AT MAXTON LOOK IT UP. YOUR NOT GOING TO DO NO 170 ON A STOCK 600. WITH MOTOR WORK YOUR LUCKY TO GET IN THE 160S.

You didnt burst my bubble. I could care less what the top speed of my bike is nor am i worried about it. I just stated i had it pinned one day on a highway and the spedo said i was going 167mph. For such a fine crafted machine that seems to have alot of engineering in her i figured the spedo was spot on.

If you want something just because of how fast it can go (stupid), get a sk8 board, you will live longer to get dumber.

Sorry to give you the Bad News I had a 2005 R6 it Tops out about 145 MPH but the Honda and Suzuki GSXR -600 would run circles around that R6. Besides that you are going in the Navy you will either be on a SUB, or Aircraft Carrier you willnot have time to test it out want my advise GOARMY and get a GSXR.

Thi about keeping it together long enough to enjoy it all. Don't think speed, think plain simple riding.
At first it sseams XSivly simple but as time passes it gets XSivly comlicated!

Alright here's my 2 cents, I ride a 2005 Kawasaki ZZR600 (the old zx-6). Now one day I tried topping it out with everything factory, plus my crash cage. I topped out at 151, a month or so later I was messing with a corvette and maybe cause it was colder, or I tucked closer, or a different fuel level I hit 162. So on different days your speed can change that drastically. In my opinion theres no need to go much faster than 150. Even if you end up with a carburettor "sport touring bike" like mine. All you do is throw a BMC or K&N filter in it, buy a nice slip on, and get a jet kit. Now lets say you can hit 170 now, go up 1 or 2 teeth on the back sprocket. You'll bring your speed back down to 150 or so but you'll get there alot quicker. So you'll turn great times on the quarter, and take off alot faster than other 600's. I've messed with like 3 636's none of them have beaten me and by far they are a much better bike, why haven't they beaten me? cause I'll split a lane at 100. Its as simple as that, get whats looks good, rides good, and is comfortable for you. Numbers aren't important having fun is.

regardless of what your speedo says, there aren't any 600s really getting into the 160s. 155 is fast for a 600.
it's like the goons who think their 'Busas go 200 because the speedo says so. in reality they're doing about 175, tops! those bikes are restricted to 186 anyways!

unless ur drag racing I dunno why the top speed would matter... Just know that both bikes get high enough up there but not as fast as a Busa or ZX.
